A text-dominant promotional poster, to advertise a special screening of a classic movie at Playhouse Square’s “Cinema at the Square” series. To highlight a key dramatic themes, I chose the dialogue “Some places are like people. Some shine. And some don’t.”, as it reveals a core conflict within the main character, Jack Torrance. The writer’s social obligations serve as an excuse for his failed creative ambitions, and eventually become a target for frustration, then hostility.

To emphasize my concept, I styled the poster like Jack Torrance’s typewritten work in The Shining, making it instantly recognizable to fans of the film.
